Trekmates has produced a limited-edition softshell jacket to mark its sponsorship of a mountaineering body.
The Nottingham-based brand consulted the British Association of International Mountain Leaders for the design of its new waterproof jacket.
As part of the sponsorship deal, all registered BAIML members have received the new Soft Shell Jacket free of charge, with the official BAIML logo embroidered onto the arm so you can spot a registered member when they’re out and about.
And members of the public are being offered the chance to get their hands on the jacket, minus the logo, for a limited period.
A spokesperson for the company said: “These guys spend most of their time in some of the toughest environments on earth, so who better to tell us what’s needed from your kit when you’re out enjoying the great outdoors?
“It’s a technical jacket, with a softshell waterproof fabric with no seam taping and a warm fleece lining.
“The zips are coated water-resistant YKK zips and the mountain hood is large enough to fit a helmet under.
“We’ve also included three large external pockets and two internal cargo pouches, reflective shockcord and zip pulls.
“The sleeve length is slightly longer to allow for the movement of the sleeve when wearing a rucksack or scrambling in the jacket, meaning your sleeves won’t ride up exposing your wrists to the elements.”
The BAIML Soft Shell costs £100 and is available direct from Trekmates.

Hi, just a small correction to the headline. May I suggest it says "International Mountain Leader input to.....". Although to the general public this is symantics, I would guess that most BAIML members wouldn't want to upset our fellow professionals in the British Mountain Guides.
(I'm an IML and BAIML member).
PS. The jacket is fab! Only used mine a couple of times, but ideal for winter work.
Done! Sorry for our error, Gerald. Now corrected. Bob Smith Editor
What colours is the jacket available in as black not a good colour for the hills?
