Investigators with the York Regional Police are seeking three suspects following an attempted carjacking in Markham.
On Sept. 1, at around 2:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of Macrill Road and Goldring Crescent for a report that several suspects tried to steal the victim's car in front of a residence.
According to police, the victim, a man, was driving in a 2020 dark-grey Mercedes-Benz C-Class when he stopped on a residential street and a dark-coloured vehicle pulled up beside him.
A man approached his vehicle with an unknown weapon, demanding the car.
The victim drove off in his vehicle and was able to lose the suspect vehicle before contacting police.
The suspect is described as a Black man, 20 to 30-years-old, with a slim build. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black pants.
Two other suspects were inside the suspect vehicle, police said.
Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to come forward. Officers would also like to speak with anyone who may have video surveillance or dashcam footage of the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6631, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip online at www.1800222tips.com.
