'Safe Kids Day' on Saturday aims to promote safety with free bike helmets, life jackets - Casper, WY Oil City News

CASPER, Wyo. — The annual Safe Kids Day event returns this Saturday at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming.

According to a release, the event is hosted by Banner Wyoming Medical Center and promotes child safety by handing out fitted bike helmets, life jackets and other safety products. Topics such as gun and water safety and proper usage of child seats and boosters will also be covered.

Banner Wyoming Medical Center is hosting a fun family event called “Spring Into Safety” to celebrate kids and help families learn simple things they can do to keep kids safe. Formerly known as Safe Kids Day, the annual event has been hosted by Wyoming Medical Center since 1994.

Bike helmets and life jackets will be distributed along with tips on many topics including gun safety, water safety, car and booster seats, bike safety and fire and carbon monoxide safety. There will also be several raffle drawings for a kids’ items, including a bike.  

Preventable injuries are the No. 1 killer of kids in the United States. The Spring Into Safety event is an opportunity to raise awareness and resources to celebrate kids, prevent injuries and save lives.
