STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — As a detective took the witness stand on Monday, prosecutors unveiled what is perhaps the most crucial piece of video evidence in their rape and murder case against Linden Beaton.

Detective Steven Furno testified that he became alarmed when he watched the video, shot on Jan. 19, 2019, from a home surveillance system, but which he did not see until eight days later on Jan. 27.
